I am sad to see this criminal vandalism by students at MPHS. I am glad we have video cameras in schools. I am glad we have strong, responsible staff who don't put up with irresponsibility and who demand things from their students. While it's easy to blame parents, religion, politics or school staff, the students are responsible for their actions, and they need to take the consequences. Arrests and convictions will affect their lives, but perhaps it will wake them up to reality and responsibility and put them on to a right track. I am not a member of the local law enforcement agencies nor am I involved in the schools, but I care. My children are long grown up and on their own. When they did something wrong, I made them own up to it and make amends. I am sure the local authorities will see this through to convictions and punishment, and this community should support them all the way. Our local law enforcement agencies - police, courts, counselors, school administrators coordinated programs in the schools so students can talk about what is going to happen or their worries and fears. Intervention and positive support are priorities. They've worked hard to make the schools safe without trying to take away freedoms and liberties. They are to be commended for the hours they spend on their own time working with adults and children. What we don't want to see is leniency for the perpetrators. Someday, they will leave this community and move on (we hope), and if they have not taken the consequences now, what they do next could be far worse. An intervention now might save them as well as others. I am sad to hear the comments of those who think this is funny or that the school deserved this or that this is just a prank and really funny. They need help.
As a parent and alumni of MPHS I am mortified at these videos. Watching them makes me feel violated and gives me an unsafe feeling that this could happen at our school. How could someone be so stupid and cruel to do this? I hope that the culprits that committed these crimes are caught and punished fully.
Only being out of school for a couple of years I find this act disgusting. These students have taken "senior Pranks" too far. I hope that these children are found and are given heavy consequences for what they have done. Mount Pleasant has worked long and hard to make MPHS a great place to come to school everyday and this is how a few students show their gratitude.
